A morning kick off on a bright February day saw Broadhall Tigers face Hitchin Town Cove for a top of the table clash, a six pointer that neither team could afford to loose.

The game stated very fast with Hitchin forcing some early pressure on the Tigers goal with a corner in the first minute, which was cleared.

This pressure continued with Hitchin Town playing a Long ball game, whenever a ball went to a Hitchin player it was launched forward for their strikers to run onto. Tom and especially Charlie 2 managed to remove the threat with some strong defensive play.

It took eight minutes for the Tigers to start to get into their stride and get the ball on the ground where it belonged and assert pressure on the Hitchin goal with a Corner which Rickie put just wide with a great header.

Again Hitchin and the Tigers continued to battle it out in Midfield with both teams making very little headway with Charlie 2 mopping everything up for the Tigers and offside being given every time the Tigers made a break on the Hitchin Goal.

24 minutes sees Charlie 1 make a fine save from a Hitchin shot and on 25 minutes the Hitchin keeper saves from and Alex shot.

The half continued with neither Team able to make the important breakthrough and at half time it was 0-0 with the Tigers just edging the possession of play.

Some changes from the Tigers saw some fresh legs enter the game and the Tigers came out very strong and started to play their game.

32 Minutes and Robert turns in the Hitchin box and shoots just wide.

38 Minutes and Alex is picked out from defence and duly puts the ball in the back of the net with a 25 yard volley.

The Tigers then went to sleep and Hitchin took the lead with very well worked goals on 39 and 40
minutes.

The Tigers started to apply more pressure and put a good ball over the top for Alex to run onto, the Hitchin defender seeing that he was beat by the bounce of the ball jumped and knocked the ball away with his hand from Alex to stop a goal scoring opportunity.

The Tigers again dug deep and Robert sees a goal disallowed on 50 minutes for offside again.

With more pressure being applied as the Tigers were chasing the game the Hitchin Keeper puts the ball in his own net whilst under pressure from a corner kick.

Again the Tigers go to sleep and Hitchin duly take their chance to take all three points with a great goal on 59 minutes from the Hitchin number 9.

The Tigers hit back again and Dominic beats the offside trap in the last minute of extra time for him to shot straight at the keeper.

Man of the match goes to Charlie 2 for his incredible defensive display.

The Tigers played the best football today and had the lion’s share of possession but were unlucky not to walk away with any points and restricted Hitchin to Four shots on target.
